Ethically sourced from scans and rips from the original CDr, “Hacker Track” is made available for public recreational use once more. Please use responsibly. Side A, titled “Hack Your Mind,” plays at 33 rpm. Side B, titled “Hack Your Mind,” plays at 45 rpm for faster download speeds.
Since the reissue of the epic “Rerex” on glorious triple vinyl, the next entry in James Ferraro’s “Summer Headrush” series to get immortalized forever into wax is likely its most polarizing one: “Hacker Track.” This release is a standout in Ferraro’s discography of the time as very little in the way of melodic or musical content appears. What instead plays out is more or less two digital audio collages featuring disjointed loops of various sounds including (but not limited to): keyboard clacking, computer chimes, mechanical whirring, pitched vocals, water splashing, and the THX logo noise. “Hacker Track” is a slow burner but uber-rewarding; the last five minutes of the record will absolutely Hack Your Mind.
